How accurate are the images?
Our images come directly from the manufacturer and as a whole tend to be very representative of what the rug will look like in person. With that said, it should be noted that a picture is representative of the environment the picture was taken in. Factors such as lighting, paint colors , flooring type and computer monitor settings can skew the way the rug may look in your home.
Should I expect my rug to shed?
Most non wool rugs will not shed. Wool rugs on the other hand are inherently expected to shed. Shedding in wool rugs no matter what the manufacturing technique used is a bi-product of the process of making your rug. Shedding will tend to subside within a relatively short time for most rugs, however it is not uncommon for some wool rugs, especially hand tufted to shed up to one year. While shedding can certainly be a frustrating aspect of rug ownership, it is however not indicative of a defect.
Do I really need a rug pad?
A good quality rug pad will help your rug stay in place while also protecting the flooring that it is placed on. Some area rugs can have backings that make them susceptable to moving. Alternatively most sythetic rugs have a somewhat hard backing that can scratch some wood floors. The use of a rug pad will mitigate both of these issues. We do suggest buying a pad that is somewhat consistent with the quality of your rug. Meaning, if you place an order for a fairly thick and heavy area rug it would be prudent to purchase a higher grade rug pad that can support the weight of your rug. Alternatively, if you purchased a fairly thin area rug you should not purchase a rug pad that is an overkill for your rug. Rug Sizing & Deviations
Making an area rug is not an exact science and as a result it is not uncommon for area rug measurements to be off as much as 6" on each side. Typically speaking area rugs that are machine made are less likely to have as much deviation but it can occur. Usually sizing differences of 2-3" are more common, especially with hand made rugs.
The use of a high power suction and beater bar vacuums are not to be used on an area rug. Avoid vacuming the edges of the rug so you are not damaging the edge yarns of the rug.
How to Clean Your Rug
Clean spills immediately. Once a stain is set, it becomes much more difficult to clean. Never rub a spill, as this forces the spill deeper into the rug. Instead, blot the stain with a clean white cloth. For wool rugs, use lukewarm water to remove any residual stain, as wool is more prone to bleeding and staining than synthetic fibers. Always use clean water to remove any residual cleaner, and dry towels to absorb any remaining moisture.
Sprouts and Rouge Fibers
Occasionally there may be tufts or fibers that were not fully removed during the manufacturing process. If you see a strand or two of uneven fibers simply take a scissors and cut it flush with the existing pile of the rug. This will not damage the rug or hinder the lifespan of your new area rug. Certain rug making processes are more prone to sprouts and can occur during normal wear found in a busy household.
How to fix curled end of my rug.
Many rugs are rolled in a warehouse prior to shipment for months. Over time they can develop memory from being rolled that upon installing can make the edges or ends curl. This is very common, especially on thinner rugs and is easily fixed. We suggest using the reverse roll method. This method is best deployed by rolling the effected areas in the opposite direction of the curl. If your edges are more stubborn and maintain their curl even after reverse rolling, we suggest apply weight to the effected area for a few hours.
How to address rolls, folds or creases in my rug.
If after unrolling your rug you find that there are folds, high points or creases we suggest applying weight to these areas in an effort to flatten them back to their intended look. Most times these initial imperfections are caused from being stored in a warehouse prior to shipping. More stubborn issues may take a few days to fully dissipate and this issue tends to be more prevalent on thinner pile rugs.
